Plaque Text:
Constructed in September 1989, through funds provided by remaining Campus Boys, this gazebo stands in tribute to all Campus Boys.
In 1922, Dr. J.C. Hardy, President of Baylor College, initiated a program whereby financially needy young men of good character could live in campus housing, attend regular classes, and work twenty-four hours per week to minimize the financial burden of receiving an education. Assigned work included maintenance of buildings and grounds, duty in the bookstore or gym, and assistance to professors. The college id not grant degrees to Campus Boys.
The era of the Campus Boys ended when the college became fully co-educational in 1971.
Names of all known Campus Boys are on file in the Musick Alumni Center and Museum at the Parker House.
Dedicated 1990
