Long Description:
At dawn on August 19, 1942, 553 members of the Essex Scottish Regiment landed at Red Beach outside the village of Dieppe, France, as part of 4th Canadian Division Operation JUBILEE. By 6:30 a.m. the battle was actually over for the Essex Scottish Regiment and the withdrawal of troops was ordered at 11:00 a.m. Of the regiment, only 53 soldiers returned to England, some of them wounded.

This monument is identical to the Dieppe Raid Memorial erected at Dieppe Gardens (a park) in Windsor, Ontario and unveiled on August 19, 2010.

Epitaphe - "In memory of our comrades who lost their lives during the Second World War during the Dieppe raid on August 19, 1942, and during the Allied advance across France, the Belgium, Holland and Germany (1944-45) on their way to victory "

Monument inaugurated on 08/19/2006 - Designed by Rory O'Connor, Art student at the University of Windsor (Canada) - Every year on August 19 at 1 p.m., the sun lines up with the maple leaf cut into the monument and illuminates the maple leaf embedded in the base on the ground, commemorating the end of the air bombardment on Dieppe.

À l’aube du 19 août 1942, 553 membres du régiment Essex Scottish ont débarqué à la Plage rouge devant le village de Dieppe, en France, dans le cadre de l’Opération JUBILEE de la 4e Division du Canada. Dès 6 h 30, la bataille était en fait terminée pour le régiment Essex Scottish et le retrait des troupes a été ordonné à 11 h. Du régiment, seulement 53 militaires sont retournés en Angleterre, certains d’entre eux blessés.

Ce monument est identique au Mémorial du raid de Dieppe érigé au Dieppe Gardens (un parc), à Windsor en Ontario et dévoilé le 19 août 2010.

Epitaphe - "A la mémoire de nos camarades qui ont perdu la vie pendant la deuxième guerre mondiale au cours du raid à Dieppe le 19 août 1942, et pendant l'avance des alliés à travers la France, la Belgique, la Hollande et l'Allemagne (1944-45) en voie de remporter la victoire" .

Monument inauguré le 19/08/2006 - Conçu par Rory O'Connor, étudiant en Art à l'Université de Windsor (Canada) - Chaque année, le 19 août à 13 heures, le soleil s'aligne avec la feuille d'érable découpée dans le monument et illumine la feuille d'érable incrustée dans la base sur le sol, commémorant la fin du bombardement aérien sur Dieppe.
