Quad mount Bofors 40mm were produced in the thousands and placed on US Navy destroyers, cruisers, battleships and aircraft carriers in WWII. Single and dual mounted Bofors were placed on supply ships, PT Boats and other auxilliary vessels. Remained in service for many years. Also produced for the army in a single barrel towed gun and twin mounted guns on a tank chassis, the M42 Duster. Still in use with the US Air Force on the AC-130 gunships. These Bofors in the Quad mount likely came off the USS Missouri when it left The mothball fleet in the 1980s.
