Chinamans Well was one of several wells used to source water along the route the Chinese took to reach the Goldfields in Victoria. Carved blocks of limestone came from the Limestone Quarry, on the right-hand side of the road in, which the Chinese immigrants used to construct Chinamans Well. It is believed there was enough stone excavated at this site to build at least three wells. Further back along the road is a sandstone quarry where the lids of the well were extracted.
Chinamans Well is located 16kms south of Salt creek (70kms south of Meningie).
