Wasserturm der GWG Grevenbroich, NRW [GER] - Water Towers on Waymarking.com

Auch wenn ihn Kühl- und Fernmeldetürme meterweit überragen: Der alte Wasserturm an der Nordstraße ist nach wie vor das Grevenbroicher Wahrzeichen. Schon seit über einem Jahrhundert prägt das schmale Backstein-Gebäude die Skyline der Schloss-Stadt entscheidend mit.
Am Verwaltungsgebäude der GWG Grevenbroich GmbH und dessen KundenCenter, steht auch deren Wasserturm von 1897. Er ist denkmalgeschützt und besteht aus 2-geschossigem Backsteinunterbau mit Lisenengliederung und sich nach oben verjüngendem Rundturm mit ausgeladenem Gesims. Die Jahreszahl ist in der Wetterfahne.
Das Gas- und Wasserwerk dokumentiert für Grevenbroich die Entwicklung einer systematischen, zentralen Wasserversorgung im Ende der siebziger Jahre des letzten Jahrhunderts.
