EN: The artist Max Ernst (1891-1976), born in Brühl, dealt with Dadaism and Surrealism in his early career, and later with Abstract Expressionism. Some of the techniques that were new for the time, such as frottage, grattage and drip painting, are based on his artistic experiments.

The Max Ernst Museum in Brühl is therefore dedicated to the life and work of Max Ernst. The collection exhibited in the museum gives a brief overview of the works of art created over the course of over 70 years. In addition to numerous paintings, drawings and collages, around seventy bronze sculptures have been exhibited since September 2005. In supporting special exhibitions by other artists, there is a dialogue with the works of Max Ernst.

The museum is generally open Tuesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. For four euros you can visit the permanent smelling, for 8.50 euros you can also visit the special exhibitions.
