Long Description:
Gloster Meteor i Danmarks Flymuseum i Stauning, Skjern.

Danmark købet i 1945 tyve Gloster Meteor Mk. Meteor Mk. fløj i flyvevåbnet indtil 1956.

Denmark acquired in 1945 twenty Gloster Meteor Mk. IV, which came to serve during the Navy's 3rd Air Flotilla, and after the establishment of the Air Force in 1950 was transferred to ESK 723. Meteor Mk. flew in the Air Force until 1956.

Next to the Mark IVs, the Air Force bought another nine Meteor Mk. VII (2-seater), which i.a. were used for retraining purposes and served from 1950 - 1962, during which period 7 of them were completely wrecked. Meteor Mk. 8 had a 70 cm longer body, pressure cabin and catapult seat. In 1950, the Danish Air Force bought a total of twenty Meteor Mk. 8, which was delivered the following year and was primarily part of ESK 724 at FSN Karup, but was later moved to Aalborg, where they operated for six years.

When ESK 724 in 1956 switched to using Hawker Hunter, Meteor Mk. 8 b.a. for the task of flying as a towing aircraft, etc. But most were scrapped in 1957 - 1958. From 1951 - 52 the Air Force was supplied with twenty Meteor N.F. Mk. 11, which was a night fighter version fitted with a longer nose for radar installation. Some of these were later converted into target tugs under the name T.T.Mk.20, which were in service until mid-August 1962.

Gloucester Meteor F. Mk. 8 499 has been restored to a static exhibition in the Danish Aviation Museum by a group of young people from Videbæk Ungdomsskole under the leadership of ungdomsskoleinspekter J. P. Andersen, and later ungdomsskoleinspektor John Jensen.
