The dandelion sculpture installation is located near to the lake and wildflower meadow in Trentham Gardens in the Trentham Estate.
The twelve giant dandelion sculptures were created by Amy Wight of FantasyWire. The stems are huge 5 metre poles with seed heads that are over a metre wide.

Spring was introduced along with the Giant Dandelions. Amy at FantasyWire had been making and selling six feet tall garden dandelions for a while and Trentham Gardens liked the idea of photos of visitors blowing them. The problem was one of safety. Having a spiky ball of wire at face height does pose an obvious risk in a public space. “What if we made them taller and out of reach?” So, we made a prototype and invited Trentham to come and see it at home. We had several different sized dandelions in the garden and when Trentham turned up and looked at one about 8 foot tall, they said, “Is that it, I don’t think it's safe”. We asked them to turn around and look up. It was just like the moment in Jurassic park when they first see the dinosaurs. “I think we need a meadow full of them” was the reply. "Blow me: Trentham Gardens' fairies joined by giant dandelions" TWELVE giant dandelion sculptures have been installed at Trentham Gardens to join its fairy sculptures – already an online sensation thanks to a visitor’s photograph that received a million hits.
The 15ft (5m) seed heads were created by Amy Wight, whose father Robin Wight installed the 15 fairies around the estate near Stoke-on-Trent in Staffordshire.
The pretty dandelion heads have been installed next to the lake and wildflower meadow.
“We began work on the dandelions about three months ago, although our inspiration came when we installed Wishes at Trentham back in 2014,” said Amy.
“It’s really hard to appreciate the full scale of the dandelions until you’re up close.
“The stems are huge poles and I was able to climb right inside the head of one when we were assembling them.
“They look spectacular with the Wildflower Meadow as a backdrop, and you can imagine how beautiful they will be when lit up at night at the firework display in November – just like an enchanted forest.”
A new fairy called Spring joined the garden with the dandelions, and she can be seen playing on one of the dandelion stems.
Although just installed, one million visitors viewed the dandelions on Facebook during their first week, and many more people are expected to visit in person during the October half-term holidays.
Both Amy and Robin will be in the gardens on October 25 to talk about their work.
The Trentham Fairy Trial and new Dandelions are included in the entrance price: £9.70 for adults and £8.15 for children, with family tickets at £24.70 and season tickets available.
There are also several cheap ticket offers on the garden’s website, and RHS members can visit for free in December, January, February and March.
