"Mr. & Mrs. F.W. Nieburg had been active in funeral service and furniture retailing in the Warrenton community continuously since 1903, when the funeral home was established. In 1912, they built the brick building located at 201 E. Main Street, which served as a furniture store and funeral home until 1951, when the present funeral home at 510 East Main was constructed. In 1935, his son John F. Nieburg and John's wife Doris became partners in the business. In 1940, John E. Herlinger a son-in-law, replaced the elder Mr. Nieburg in the partnership. John F. Nieburg and John E. Herlinger operated both the funeral home and furniture business until 1962, when Mr. Herlinger sold his interest to John F. Nieburg. John and Doris Nieburg owned and operated the business until 1969 when it was sold to Paul Funeral Inc.

"On June 1, 1987, the business was purchased by Danny & Fran Martin. Danny had formally worked with John and Doris Nieburg from 1962 to 1967 and was happy to be back in Warrenton to work with and serve the families of Warren County. Danny and Fran were both very involved in the community and members of many organizations. They took great pride in serving the families of Warren County.

"In 1994 they purchased The Lichtenberg funeral home in downtown Marthasville. Lichtenberg funeral home traces its beginnings back to 1898 when Henry August Lichtenberg , and his family, moved from New Haven and settled in Marthasville. Three generations of Lichtenberg's followed in the footsteps of Henry August "H.A." as he was known.

"Sadly, in July of 2005, Danny lost his battle with cancer. He is greatly loved and missed by his family, his staff and the community. Fran continued to own and operate the business. In 2009 their daughter Kelly Chmiel, joined the business as Manager for both Warrenton and Marthasville locations.

"Today, Martin Funeral Homes, Inc., is owned and operated by Kelly and her husband Ray and is still the only locally owned funeral home in Warren County. Kelly and Ray along with their qualified staff, continue to provide the highest quality of care for the families they serve." ~ Martin's Funeral Homes, Inc.
