Jaroslav Hašek (30 April 1883 – 3 January 1923) was a Czech writer, humorist, satirist, journalist, bohemian and anarchist. He is best known for his novel The Fate of the Good Soldier Švejk during the World War, an unfinished collection of farcical incidents about a soldier in World War I and a satire on the ineptitude of authority figures. The novel has been translated into about 60 languages, making it the most translated novel in Czech literature.

Jaroslav Hašek spent the last years of his life in Lipnice and is buried here in the local old cemetery. Haška was brought to Lipnice in 1921 by his friend the academic painter Jaroslav Panuška, who later lived and worked in nearby Kochánov. Hašek bought a house in Lipnice, where he lived until his death in 1923. The writer Jaroslav Hašek died in his house on January 3, 1923 and is buried in the local old cemetery near the square. A memorial with an exhibition related to the writer's life and work has been set up in his house.

V Lipnici prožil Jaroslav Hašek poslední léta svého života a zde je i na místním starém hrbitove pochován.

Haška privedl na Lipnici r. 1921 jeho prítel akademický malír Jaroslav Panuška , který pozdeji žil a tvoril v blízkém Kochánove. Hašek si zakoupil v Lipnici domek, kde žil až do své smrti v roce 1923. Spisovatel Jaroslav Hašek zemrel ve svém domku 3. ledna 1923 a je pochován na místním starém hrbitove v blízkosti námestí. V jeho domku je zrízen památník s expozicí vztahující se ke spisovatelove životu a dílu.
