History
After various projects, the railway line from Niort to Ruffec which crosses the north of this canton was decided around 1880. All of the track and various equipment: stations of Mougon-Tauché and Celles-sur-Belle, houses of gatekeepers built according to the model with lean-tos, bridges ... were built between 1885 and 1892. After being installed by the State Railways Administration, it was managed from 1936 by the Company National Railways of France (SNCF). This road entered the canton on the territory of the commune of Sainte-Blandine, which it crossed to the north from west to east. At the crossroads with paths and roads came a succession of gatekeepers' houses, bridges and viaducts. Operation of this route ceased in the third quarter of the 20th century, and a large number of buildings, including gatehouse houses, were alienated in the fourth quarter of the 20th century. From the Mougon-Tauché station, originally comprising a lamp post and lavatories, a shelter shed, as well as a goods hall and a weighbridge, only the station building, which has become a private dwelling, remains. The well dug next to this station still exists. Celles-sur-Belle station is used as a music school. The track has been dismantled in various places to create a discovery and hiking trail.

Historique
Après différents projets, la voie ferrée de Niort à Ruffec qui traverse le nord de ce canton a été décidée vers 1880. L'ensemble de la voie et des équipements divers : gares de Mougon-Tauché et de Celles-sur-Belle, maisons de garde-barrière bâties selon le modèle avec appentis, ponts... ont été construits entre 1885 et 1892. Après avoir été installée par l'Administration des Chemins de fer de l'Etat, elle a été gérée à partir de 1936 par la Société nationale des chemins de fer français (S.N.C.F.). Cette voie entrait dans le canton sur le territoire de la commune de Sainte-Blandine, qu'elle traversait au nord d'ouest en est. Aux croisements avec des chemins et des routes se succédaient maisons de garde-barrière, ponts et viaducs. L'exploitation de cette voie s'est arrêtée dans le troisième quart du 20e siècle et un grand nombre de bâtiments, notamment les maisons de garde-barrière, ont été aliénés dans le quatrième quart du 20e siècle. De la gare de Mougon-Tauché, comprenant à l'origine une lampisterie et des cabinets d'aisance, un hangar d'abri, ainsi qu'une halle des marchandises et un pont à bascule, seul le bâtiment de la gare, devenu une habitation particulière, subsiste. Le puits creusé à côté de cette gare existe toujours. La gare de Celles-sur-Belle est utilisée comme école de musique. La voie a été démontée en différents endroits pour aménager un sentier de découverte et de randonnée.
