"Der Börsenbär in Grafenau ist eine Kopie des bronzenen, lebensgroßen Bären, der seit 1988 zusammen mit dem Bullen auf dem Platz vor der Frankfurter Börse steht. Er steht auf dem Platz zwischen Rathaus, Sparkasse und Nationalparkverwaltung.

Bulle und Bär symbolisieren ja das Auf („Hausse“) und Ab („Baisse“) an der Börse. Aber wie kommt der Börsenbär nach Grafenau? Er ist ein Geschenk des verstorbenen Bildhauers Reinhard Dachlauer an die Nationalparkverwaltung. Dachlauer, der dem Nationalpark Bayerischer Wald immer sehr verbunden war, hat in seinem Testament verfügt, dass eine Kopie des Börsenbären als Geschenk an den Sitz der Nationalparkverwaltung in Grafenau kommt.

Eigentlich sollte der Bär seinen Platz im Hof hinter der Nationalparkverwaltung bekommen, später einigten sich die Verantwortlichen auf den Standort am neuen Rathausplatz. Er markiert damit den Beginn des Bärenpfades, einem Themenweg, der im Rahmen der Marketing-Kampagne „Tierisch wild“ zusammen mit der Gemeinde Neuschönau gestaltet wurde. Der Bärenpfad führt dann von dem künstlichen Börsenbären über den Kurpark und insgesamt sechs Stationen, in denen ein Bärenleben aufgezeigt wird, zu den echten Bären im Tierfreigelände des Nationalparks in Neuschönau. The stock market bear in Grafenau is a copy of the bronze, life-size bear that stands near the bull on the square in front of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange since 1988. He is located on the square between the town hall, the Sparkasse and the National Park administration.

The bull and bear symbolize the up (“bull market”) and down (“bear market”) on the stock market. But how does the stock market bear get to Grafenau? It is a gift from the sculptor Reinhard Dachlauer to the National Park administration. Dachlauer, who has always been closely connected to the Bavarian Forest National Park, decreed in his will that a copy of the stock market bear should be sent as a gift to the headquarters of the National Park Administration in Grafenau.

The bear was actually supposed to have its place in the courtyard behind the National Park administration, but those responsible later agreed on the location on the new town hall square. It thus marks the beginning of the bear trail, a themed trail that was designed in cooperation with the Neuschönau community as part of the “Wild animal” marketing campaign. The bear path then leads from the artificial stock exchange bear across the spa park and a total of six stations, in which a bear life is shown, to the real bears in the animal free area of ??the national park in Neuschönau.
