Located near the Charlotte County line is the Deep Creek Park and boat ramp. The boat ramp is a very simple single lane paved ramp with no dock or place to secure your boat easily. It is paved to the waterline and a little further into the water. There is a HUGE paved parking area within a very short walking distance, approximately 400 feet away.
The parking area has 30 oversized parking spaces for vehicles and boat trailers with easy ingress and egress. There are ADA restrooms and a covered picnic area with 14 regular car parking spaces and 2 disabled parking spaces.
The ramp is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. There are no fees associated with use of the ramp. The park does not have any posted hours. There is no playground available, but large mowed green spaces are available. An adjacent seasonal pond is located on the property and is very active with water fowl and other bird life. This park is especially popular with Sandhill Cranes.
An adjacent trailhead is on the west side of the park with hiking access to the larger Deep Creek Preserve. The trailhead is for trail #17, one of 17 trails in the preserve for a total of 9 miles. Trail #17 connects to trail #16 and makes for a short loop back to the park parking lot.
This is a water conservation area for the Peace River watershed so be sure to wear shoes for wet hiking and sufficient bug spray, sunscreen, drinking water and sun hats.
This park is on Southwest Florida Water Management Conservation lands and is maintained by Desoto County Parks and Recreation.
