EN: The ceramic museum "Keramion" was built in 1971 by the architect Peter Neufert and the engineer Stefan Polónyi at Bonnstraße 12 in Frechen. The building was modeled after a potter's wheel. Stoneware manufacturer Gottfried Cremer first used it as a private museum for his extensive collection of contemporary ceramics. The Keramion Foundation has been operating the building as a public museum for ceramics since 2002, and at the same time it was placed under monument protection.
When the foundation was established, Gottfried Cremer's private collection was merged with the municipal collection of historical ceramics, making the Keramion a special museum for ceramics.
