In de Oranjepolder bij Hoek van Holland is een paaiplaats voor snoeken ingericht. In de periode van februari tot juni wordt een weiland onder water gezet. De volwassen snoeken kunnen vanuit het Oranjekanaal naar het weiland zwemmen via de vistrap. Daarna kunnen er vele kleine snoekjes geboren worden. In mei-juni wordt het weiland langzaam weer drooggelegd en kunnen de inmiddels gegroeide snoekjes weer naar het Oranjekanaal trekken. De snoeken helpen om een goede visstand in de plaatselijke sloten te krijgen.

A spawning area for pike has been set up in the Oranjepolder near Hoek van Holland. In the period from February to June, a pasture is flooded. The adult pike can swim from the Oranjekanaal to the pasture via the fish ladder. After that many small pike can be born. In May-June the pasture is slowly reclaimed and the grown pike can return to the Orange Canal. The pike help to get a good stock of fish in the local ditches.
