This memorial was constructed to memorialize those deceased members of the 1st Special Forces Group located on Joint Base Lewis Mcchord in Washington state. Construction of this memorial began in 2004 and names are added (engraved) once each year in time for the observance of Menton Day ceremony on December 4th which remembers the deactivation of the US/Canadian First Special Service Force unit from World War II in Menton, France on December 4, 1944. The walkway in front of the memorial is constructed of individual bricks that can be engraved with your name or a name you wish to memorialize.
