Halsted & 35th - Chicago, IL - Victorian Style Architecture on Waymarking.com

This commercial building on the northwest corner of Halsted and 31st Street has a street level store front and apartments in the upper levels. The bottom level currently houses a Cricket wireless store. The building was marked as historically significant in the Chicago Historic Resources Survey.

Although not particularly well maintained, it shows many features of American Queen Anne style. The storefront facade is covered with stamped iron sheets with ornament. The second and third floor feature large oriel windows decorated with relief panels. Although some of the ornament appears to be removed, the upper floor features a wide variety of materials and textures.

The iron plating is stamped "Vierling, McDowell & Co Ironworks," a company which existed from 1882-1918, putting this building's construction sometime in that range. (visit link)
