L'ancienne église méthodiste wesleyenne est un ancien édifice à vocation religieuse bâti en 1823. Son plan rectangulaire s'élève sur deux étages. Les façades en pierre à moellons du rez-de-chaussée sont percées par des fenêtres rectangulaires sur les côtés et à arc cintré à l'avant. La façade principale est composée avec symétrie : la porte cintrée disposée au centre est encadrée par deux fenêtres et est surmontée d'un oculus. Au-dessus de la structure en pierre s'élève une construction plus récente, au volume cubique, recouverte de crépi. Cet ancien lieu de culte est situé dans un secteur ancien sur la rue Bonaventure au centre-ville de Trois-Rivières. L'ancienne église méthodiste wesleyenne se trouve dans l'aire de protection du manoir Boucher-De Niverville, classé monument historique en 1960.
En 1818, Maurice Scott, paie-maître des troupes de Québec, fait l'acquisition d'un terrain auprès de R. Pope du canton de Stanstead en vue de la construction d'une église protestante sur la rue Bonaventure, entre la rue Hart et le manoir de Niverville. Les syndics sont nommés en 1823 pour la construction d'une église méthodiste wesleyenne. Ce lieu de culte est bâti par deux maçons, messieurs Olivier Larue et Maurice Ryan. En 1846, une église presbytérienne est édifiée à proximité, sur la rue Hart. Le secteur est alors habité majoritairement par l'élite bourgeoise de souche anglophone protestante. La construction d'autres bâtiments institutionnels importants dans les environs accroît le caractère élitiste de ce secteur.
