Located south of Arcadia, Florida along the Peace River is the Deep Creek Preserve. This conservation area consisting of 2,000 acres is owned and maintained by the Southwest Florida Water Management District to protect water resources and preserve and restore Florida’s ecosystems.

Designated trails throughout the preserve provide specific nature based experiences while minimizing impacts to the lands and natural systems. Markers identify the type of recreation available and arrows indicate the direction of the trails.

This trailhead is most easily accessible from the Deep Creek Park, which is maintained by the Desoto County Parks and Recreation. It is located on the west side of the fenced boundary of the park behind the restroom building and the covered pavilion. The number of the trail is 17 and is one of 17 specific trails in the preserve. It is a designated pedestrian hiking only trail, no horses allowed on this section. Other trails in the preserve are horse and pedestrian combination trails. No motorized vehicles are allowed.

Paved parking and public restrooms are at this site. A restaurant is within walking distance off of the property. There is no cost to park or hike the trail. Hours are sunrise to sunset.
