Coming to Le Mans, Amédée Bollée created a first "modern" automobile in 1873. The success of "l'Obéisant" was universal, and sealed the fate of Sarthe and Le Mans. From 1923 with the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Le Mans became a legendary place for the automobile. The Automobile Club Ouest, the department and local collectors then created an Automobile Museum in 1961. Initially located within the circuit itself, near the village, it underwent numerous developments over the years, and moved in 1991 near the main entrance to the Circuit.
Bentley, Ferrari, Jaguar, Ford, Porsche, Matra, Audi… all the big names are represented by their legendary models which immerse visitors in the biggest endurance race in the world. 300m² of temporary exhibitions complete this themed route

Venu s’installer au Mans, Amédée Bollée crée une première automobile « moderne » en 1873. Le succès de « l’Obéissante » est universel, et scelle le destin de la Sarthe et du Mans. Dès 1923 avec les 24 Heures du Mans, Le Mans devient un lieu mythique pour l’automobile. L’Automobile Club Ouest, le département et les collectionneurs locaux créent alors un Musée de l’Automobile en 1961. Initialement situé au sein même du circuit, à proximité du village, il subit de nombreux aménagements au fil des ans, et déménage en 1991 près de l’entrée principale du Circuit.
Bentley, Ferrari, Jaguar, Ford, Porsche, Matra, Audi … tous les grands noms y sont représentés par leurs modèles mythiques qui immergent le visiteur dans la plus grande course d’endurance au monde. 300m² d’expositions temporaires viennent compléter ce parcours thématisé
