Landgoed de Mattemburgh has an area of 413 hectares and is located near Hoogerheide. The villa dates from 1847 and in addition to a wood where nature is allowed to take its course, there are English and French style gardens. The English garden was laid out between 1850 and 1855. A pond was dug and the sand that was released was used to raise a hill. On the hill a small tea dome was built. There is an ice house under the tea dome in the hill. Nowadays this is home to bats.
Straight lines of sight run from every window of the tea dome, one to the former salt marsh area, one to the villa and two to the river de Blaffert.
Completely restored in 2013 with special attention to the ceiling plaster and marbled walls, a lookalike for real marble.
