August Euler (* 20. November 1868 in Oelde; † 1.

August Euler (* 20 November 1868 in Oelde; † 1 July 1957 in Feldberg (Black Forest); born August Heinrich Reith) was a German engineer and aviation pioneer.
In October 1908, he founded the Euler-Flugmaschinenwerke as the first German factory for motorised aircraft. To this purpose, he acquired the licence from the French manufacturer Aéroplanes G. In 1910, Euler was a graduate of the first officially prescribed, internationally valid pilot examination in Germany. He received the "Germany No. 1" pilot's licence on February 1st.
In 1912, Euler moved his factory with flight school and workshops to the vicinity of the Frankfurt district of Niederrad. On his initiative, the first official postal flight in Germany took place between Frankfurt am Main and Darmstadt on 10 June 1912.
After the First World War, he headed the Reichsluftamt and the Reichsamt für Luft- und Kraftfahrwesen at the Reichsverkehrsministerium for a few years.
