The world's oldest copper mine is located in Timna Park in South District, Israel. The mining of the copper ore malachite and chalkosin is dating back to 5000 BC. The mines were discovered by the american archeologist Nelson Glueck in 1930s. Beno Rothenberg continued in his work and found tools and clothings more then 3000 years old.
