The mural titled "Adventure and Courage" is in Cookeville, TN on a wall facing the west side of the Leslie Town Centre. A large portion of it contains a lion and a tree. It is probably about 15 feet tall by 60 feet long.
"Cookeville gained another piece of public art on Saturday with the unveiling of a mural painted by Jackson County artist Jason Tingler.
The mural was a project by the Leadership Putnam Class of 2017 funded with the help of local sponsors and a Cookeville Arts Council grant.
Tingler began working on the mural entitled, "Adventure and Courage," one month ago today following a call for artists to paint a scene for the Tennessee Central Heritage Rail Trail on the eastern side of a building owned by Jerry Gaw, one of the sponsors of the mural.
"I normally do birds and animals, but a lion just popped into my head," said Tingler about the mural that faces the west side of the Leslie Town Centre. "The tree is kind of like the trail, and the birds are the people."
Tingler said the mural is the largest piece he's ever done and a departure from the art he usually does as a custom culture artist with car shows and car clubs."
