Methodism was introduced to Monson in 1825 by students at Monson Academy. The first chapel was erected in 1827. In 1850, the present Victorian Eclectic/Romanesque Revival style church was erected.

The wood-framed building is built to a rectangular plan. The a ramp and a pair of steps leads up to the protruding, square entrance which is located at the base of a flushboard covered tower. Above the entrance, within a recessed arch, is a tall Romanesque Revival style window with a rounded arch on top; then a window with four rounded lobes. This is followed by the belfry which has louvered windows. On top is a hexagonal, tapered spire. On both sides of the central tower, on the main block of the church, are rectangular windows on the lower level and tall rounded windows on the upper level. The clapboard covered sides are four bays wide. Each bay has a smaller rectangular window on the lower level and a larger rectangular window on the upper level.
