"In 1938, Ewald Bakery was first opened to the public offering “special bargains” on pastries to all in attendance. Mr. Ewald had moved from Germany (where he first learned the bakery business) to Hermann in 1927. Ewald Bakery quickly became a cherished asset in the community. This mural, commemorating Ewald Bakery, is on the side of Sugar Momma’s, a candy and gift shop located on Market Street." ~ Visit Hermann

This 2-story building is constructed of buff brick and sits on a concrete foundation. The
façade has a vaguely Moderne design evidenced by the horizontal brick banding on the
second story of the façade. The 5 upper story windows are modern replacements. On the
