Monet turkulaiset tuntevatkin patsaan Liljan puistona. Patsaaseen liittyy vuodesta 1945 katkeamattomana jatkunut vappuperinne, Liljan lakitus. Sen on perinteisesti hoitanut Turun yliopiston hammaslääketieteen opiskelijat. Liljalla on myös oma waymark: (visit link)

Sähkömuuntamon lounaispäätyyn rakennettiin 1960-luvulla luola, johon sijoitettiin vessa, kioski ja puhtaanapitolaitoksen varasto. Sinne avautui vuonna 1998 nykyinen Titanik-taidegalleria. Vuonna 2008 puistoon tehtiin mittavia parannustöitä, muun muassa puiston tukimuuria korjattiin sortumavaaran vuoksi, mutta puisto on vieläkin hyvin pitkälti 1920-luvun asussaan.

Puiston puusto on vanhaa lehtipuustoa, puistolehmuksia, saarnia ja vaahteroita. Puistossa kasvaa Suomen suurin yksirunkoinen vaahtera, joka on samalla Suomen suurin kaupunkivaahtera.

[EN] Runeberg's Park is located in Turku, right next to the Aura River, on the section between the Library Bridge and the Auransilla between Hämeenkatu and Itäinen rantakatu. Johan Ludvig Runeberg was a famous Finnish national poet in whose memory this park has been named.

Construction of the park began in 1834 and, when completed, was named Customs House Square after a customs room located nearby. The park was also named the Kitchen park because of the sailors' shared kitchen under the stone terrace. In 1929, the kitchen was converted into a power plant transformer and the park was upgraded. Shortly before this, in 1928, a statue of Lily (Lilja), sculpted by Wäinö Aaltonen, had been brought into the park. Many Turku residents know the statue as Lilja Park. The statue is associated with the May Day tradition, setting of hat of the Lilja, which has continued unbroken since 1945. It has traditionally been treated by dental students at the University of Turku. Lilja has also own waymark: (visit link)

In the 1960s, a cave was built at the southwest end of the power plant, where a toilet, kiosk and sanitary facility warehouse were located. In 1998, the current Titanik Art Gallery opened there. Extensive improvements were made to the park in 2008, including the repair of the park's retaining wall due to the risk of collapse, but the park is still very much in its 1920s style.

The park’s trees are old deciduous trees, park lindens, ash and maples. The park grows Finland's largest single-body maple, which is also Finland's largest urban maple.
