The Rochdale Canal was completed in 1804 and connects Manchester with Sowerby Bridge.
The map was installed by The Canal and River Trust who are responsible for maintaining most of the canals and rivers in England.
It has information about the town of Hebden Bridge.
Hebden Bridge was, and still is, famous for producing corduroy. It was once known as 'trouser town'. Packhorses took the cloth from the mills to the canal and from there it travelled by boat to Sowerby Bridge or Lancashire. Many of the old mills still stand, but most have now been converted into studios and workshops.
