On March 14, 1959, this enormous anchor was taken up 40 miles NW of IJmuiden by the Urk fishing vessel UK11. They were assisted by the crew of the UK66. The anchor is 5 meters long and 3 meters at its widest point. The anchor stick has been reinstalled and consists of 2 parts of oak. On the cross where the arms and the shaft meet is the year 1512. Anchors with these dimensions were already present before 1500 and were used on the three-masted or even four-masted sailing ships.
