Vandalism takes over the recovered Os Carrís park, in A Valenzá, just three weeks after a complete transformation of the enclosure, which was closed during the summer due to the risk of falling trees. The arboriculture company Arbogal, specialized in making chainsaw carved log figures, made three special designs to integrate them into this new space: a mountain goat, an otter and a heron. The goat is the one that has suffered the consequences. After the vandals ripped off one of its horns and threw it into a nearby stream, yesterday they did the same with the sculpture's other horn. The Concello de Barbadás plans to install security cameras.
Neighborhood outrage
"We are outraged. It is a handicraft work that attracts little glances. The public is very angry, everyone or the world is vixifying to give guilty things. We believe that two people were different from the origin of acting", says Victoria Morenza, Councilor for Infrastructure of the City Council of Barbadás.
The Council has been able to recover the two parts torn from the sculpture. The last horn plucked by the vandals was left near the figure itself. The municipal corporation is already in contact with the company in charge of the works, which will proceed with the restoration of the same when the surveillance cameras are installed in the park.
"We want to make a call of attention so that these acts are not repeated," adds Morenza. The outrage continues on the social networks of the City Council, where residents share their outrage at a park that families in the area visit daily and which was pleasantly surprised by its new appearance.
Taking advantage of the trees themselves in poor condition, these sculptures and some accompanying benches were made. "Serviu to convert a residual case area into an integrating space, beautiful and that preserves the essence of nature within its own nature", reported from the Council during the inauguration.
"There is a minority that does not value these things"
Tino Meis and the workers of the arboriculture company Arbogal are the creators of the three sculptures in Os Carrís park, a group of artisans who use the chainsaw technique, carry out exhibitions throughout Spain and even a well-known chainsaw brand sponsors them . "What has happened is nothing new, but it is a minority. People tend to enjoy and respect these things. It is not because of the work time, because there are also ephemeral works, it is because of the value. The luck is that the another horn to be able to restore it, "says Meis. They will have to use a special glue to bind the horns back to the animal's body.
