The marker is in the sidewalk in front of the building's replacement, the old Plano High School Gymnasium, which is now used by the Courtyard Theater. Five-pointed stars flank the title, and the text reads:
Located on this site prior to the Plano High School Gymnasium, the Civic Auditorium was built in 1906. This monumental building of Classical design housed meetings and cultural events, such as the Lyceum in the winter, the Chautauqua in the summer, the Civic Orchestra, and the Chamber of Commerce Band. The building later burned.
