Some sources say, that the Šarena Mosque was built in 1438, others say it was built in 1495. Anyway, all sources agree that the two sisters Hurshide (sometimes Hurshida) and Mensure were the donors of the beautiful mosque. That's why a Türbe (= mausoleum) for the two sisters was built in the courtyard of the mosque. A small information board on the rear side of the Türbe informs in four languages:
The mosque was built in 1495 by two sisters - Hurshide and Mensure, who are buried in the shrine loacted in the courtyard of the mosque. It was reconstructed by Abdurrahman Pasha - son of Rexhep Pasha in 1833, who have been defenders of Tetovo and art lovers.
And Wikipedia says:
"The Šarena Džamija was financed by two sisters from Tetovo. [...] The octagonal 'türbe' houses the resting places of Hurshida and Mensure, the two sisters who financed the construction of the mosque in 1438."
