On Tuesday, the Union Association of the lower Aure valley replaced two flood gates on the Aure, in order to meet European requirements, in terms of the free movement of glass eels. Two flood gate systems on the Douet bridge and the Pont aux Vaches constitute the first ramparts against the invasion of the marshes, by the sea. Each pair of flood gates works independently, under the pressure exerted by the water.

When the sea rises, under the strong pressure of the tide, the doors close on a stop. When the sea goes down, under the pressure of the fresh water accumulated upstream, the doors open. The gates, being closed to the rising sea, the passage of Civelle is blocked.

The new gates have a device allowing these young eels to go up in the Aure. The second phase of work, scheduled for next year, will consist of installing notches or eel diversions on the six main water control structures. 'water in the marsh, namely the winnowing of the reach of the North If and the southern reach of the If, ??at Isigny-sur-Mer, the winnowing of Monfréville, Colombières, the Acre bridge in Écrammeville and of Trévières.

Mardi, l’Association syndicale de la vallée d’Aure inférieure a remplacé deux portes à flots sur l’Aure, afin de répondre aux exigences européennes, en matière de libre circulation des civelles.Deux systèmes de portes à flots sur le pont au Douet et le pont aux Vaches constituent les premiers remparts contre l’invasion des marais, par la mer. Chaque paire de portes à flots fonctionne de façon autonome, sous la pression exercée par l’eau.

Quand la mer monte, sous la forte pression du flot, les portes se ferment sur une butée. Quand la mer descend, sous la pression de l’eau douce accumulée en amont, les portes s’ouvrent. Les portes, étant fermées à la montée de la mer, le passage des Civelle est entravé.

Les nouvelles portes disposent d’un dispositif permettant à ces jeunes anguilles de remonter dans l’Aure.La seconde phase de travaux, prévue l’an prochain, consistera à aménager des échancrures ou des dérivations anguillères sur les six principaux ouvrages de régulation de l’eau dans le marais, à savoir les vannages du bief de l’If nord et du bief de l’If sud, à Isigny-sur-Mer, les vannages de Monfréville, de Colombières, du pont de l’Acre à Écrammeville et de Trévières.
