Skulpturen af Carl Nielsen står ved skolen i Nørre Lynnelse. Skolen hedder iøvrigt Carl Nielsen Skolen.
Skulpturen er udført Carls Nielsens hustru, Anne Marie Carl Nielsen (1863-1945). Den er udført i bronze og står på en granitsokkel. På soklen står med bronzebogstaver: Carl Nielsen 1865-31.
Carl August Nielsen (9. juni 1865 i Sortelung, Nørre Lyndelse, på Fyn – 3. oktober 1931 i København) var en dansk komponist og dirigent. Carl Nielsen kom fra landlige omgivelser og ydmyge kår på Fyn. Carls far var maler og lansbymusikant, og Carl var ikke ret gammel før hans far lærte ham at spille violin. Han var meget talentfuld og fik friplads på Musikkonservatoriet. Han er omtalt som sin tids største musikbegavelse i Norden og han endte som Danmarks mest fejrede og berømte komponist. Han var et menneske, der både rummede det folkelige og det finkulturelle. Derfor appellerer hans musik og fortælling direkte til de fleste musikelskere. Carl Nielsen komponerede sceneværker, orkestermusik, korværker, solosange, kammermusik og anden instrumentalmusik.

Carl August Nielsen (June 9, 1865 in Sortelung, Nørre Lyndelse, on Funen - October 3, 1931 in Copenhagen) was a Danish composer and conductor. Carl Nielsen came from a rural environment and humble conditions on Funen. Carl's father was a painter and country musician, and Carl was not very old until his father taught him to play the violin. He was very talented and got a free place at the Conservatory of Music. He is referred to as the greatest musical talent of his time in the Nordic countries and he ended up as Denmark's most celebrated and famous composer.
He was a man who embraced both the popular and the fine cultural. Therefore, his music and narrative appeals directly to most music lovers. Carl Nielsen composed stage works, orchestral music, choral works, solo songs, chamber music and other instrumental music.
