County of cemetery: Franklin County
Location of cemetery: MO Hwy 100, E. of Bluff Road, 1 mile W. of Washington
Number of graves: 220

You have to look close, and fast, small gravel drive (overgrown) leaves highway to the north, but no road or driveway is there, just the turn-in.
You must pull about 50 to 70 yards into a mowed grass field to come to the edge of the cemetery.

At first I thought abandoned, but not so. Not only cared for, but active, and some recent burials have taken place.

Newport was the first county seat of Franklin county, but floods and inconvenient travel caused the county seat (and courthouse) to move to Union, Missouri. Newport later became Dundee (the name it carries today) but as a town never became anything...just an area with a name.
The original Presbyterian Church still stands where Newport use to be.
