"David Cargill, a native Texan received his Master of Fine Arts degree from Cranbrook Academy in 1955, his sculpture work seen around the world and prominently in Texas. Passengers From Earth is a bronze sculpture that displays Cargill's talent for the abstract."

The artist himself describes this sculpture as one sculpted in kinetic bronze. It is interesting that he made another one of these in 1973 that was slightly different, but with the same name. It was sold at auction on October 13, 2007.

Description: A large bronze form which can act as a weather vane. The surface of the piece contains relief images of animals on which small children ride. There are also small details like shells, dragonflies, etc. Animals include an elephant, giraffe, bear, moose, cow, etc. The entire piece is mounted on a large shaft which comes out of the concrete base. The sculpture is designed to act as a weathervane in a light wind."
