This was once the cemetery for the Etlah Community Church, since the church is now a private home, the cemetery was transferred, or so I am told, to the city.
Since the village (city) no longer exists, someone maintains the grass cutting, etc...but no active burials happen any more.
Since there ae no signs, there is no information to clear the questions.
Oral history told me the church was built in 1860, was once the Etlah Community Church, and was non-denomination Christian.
Today it is a private home. The owner was gracious, and willing to talk, but reserved.
Oral History: It seem the town wanted a big depot and stop from the Missouri-Pacific Railroad. Planned on naming the town after the German verb to stop or halt, Halte. But the railroad said no, they were not interested in a stop here, so the town folks said they will not stop we are the opposite of that of town became the verb backwards...Etlah .. not to stop or halt...sort of....
