The plaque says, "Soon after the founding of the mother colony at Anaheim in 1857, Anaheim Landing was established as a port of entry for the Santa Ana Valley by the Anaheim Landing Co. despite the treacherous entrance conditions which caused several disasters. Regular coastwise trade was carried on for about fifteen years."
