Steve Pace (1968-2017) hailed from Muenster, TX up near the Red River, but he attended high school in Lewisville and graduated from the University of North Texas in Denton with a degree in geography. He worked a geography analyst for the City of Farmer’s Branch, which provides some background as to why there is a tree here that is dedicated to his memory. This sweetgum tree is young still, and at its base is a bronze plaque protected by concrete, reading:

A tree is known by its fruit;
a man by his deeds.
A good deed is never lost; he who
sows courtesy reaps friendship, and
he who plants kindness gathers love.

~~Saint Basil

A Living Tribute to

Location of the tree: Gussie Field Watterworth Park
