The year-round open "Arboretum Norr" is located in the small town of Baggböle about 10 km northwest of downtown Umeå and is a small local recreation area. The approximately 8 hectare forest area lies on the northern bank of the Ume River. Since 1981, about 1600 plants from 280 species from Europe, Siberia, East Asia and North America have been planted on this area. There is also a Japanese garden on the river bank at the height of the former sawmill area.
