Pleasant Garden-About four miles west, this was the scene of the first known settlement in Lawrence County. The Crosthwaite family came in 1804, the Walkers in 1809. A Cumberland Presbyterian church was established here shortly thereafter. Descendants of both families still live in the neighborhood.
