The legend or custom says that the Virgen de la Lanzada is a lawyer against the evil eye, the spell to cure oneself of these evils, in addition to hearing three masses there are customs such as sweeping three times around the hermitage, giving it three times, or to put three coins into the Virgin's brush.

The strange shape of the rock is striking, from which another legend derives. According to the oldest, the Virgin was stolen from her sanctuary centuries ago by the residents of San Vicente, on the O Grove peninsula. They say that she herself, in her stone bed, returned to her abode under the sea.
