The residents of A Valenzá, in Barbadás, have a new health center that may open tomorrow. With this intention, this weekend we are moving to the new facilities that offer new equipment and furniture, in which the Servizo Galego de Saúde invested a total of 3,202,662 euros to improve health care to its 8,791 users.
The new A Valenzá health center occupies a plot of 3,666 square meters, donated by the Barbadás Council that developed its surroundings, and has an area of ??1,952 meters that triples the space available today. It consists of two floors with a large central patio, which allows natural light to enter the entire interior, spacious exterior entrances, with a wide open square with benches, which can be used as a public space or host outdoor activities. The works were co-financed by 80 percent of the Feder operating program.
The healthcare area is divided between the General Medicine Area, located on the first floor, with eleven consultations, five doctors, five nurses and one for oral health, equipped with complete dental equipment, for the provision of this public healthcare offer that is will be implemented soon.
The Maternal-Infant Area will be on the ground floor, where it has a consultation for obstetric-gynecological nursing (midwife) and a large gym-room, for maternal education activities, such as workers and preparation courses for childbirth and postpartum.
And as the child population (0-14 years) of the A Valenzá Health Center represents 16 percent of the total of its users, with 1,431 children under the age of fifteen, with the aim of improving their care, the table of professionals, going from one to two pediatricians, and one more pediatric nurse, thus enabling more individualized and quality care.
There is also a Women's Consultation Room, to carry out gynecological examinations and develop this extensive program, which includes preventive check-ups for breast and uterine cancer, as well as care for normal pregnancy, menopause and contraception.
On the ground floor, there is an office for emergency care.
Likewise, the next start-up of the new Oral Health Area is planned, providing the center with a dental hygienist and dentist, without the need for its neighbors to continue traveling to the A Carballeira Health Center.
