[FR] La ville a atteint son apogée au cours de la période gallo-romaine des iie et iiie siècles. Le théâtre pouvait accueillir 6 à 7 000 spectateurs.
L'édifice est de type mixte théâtre-amphithéâtre. Le théâtre se situe à l'ouest de noyau urbanisé antique, à proximité d'un temple avec lequel il constitue un sanctuaire suburbain.
Le premier théâtre est construit sous le règne de Tibère ou vers le milieu du ier siècle mais il est fortement remanié quelques décennies plus tard. Au début de la seconde moitié du iie siècle, il est soigneusement démonté, la plupart de ses matériaux étant utilisés pour la construction d'un nouveau monument au même emplacement, mais sur un plan plus vaste.
[EN] This Roman theater could accomodate from 6 to 7,000 spectators.
It is situated to the west of a urban center of the ancient city, along with a temple which made up a suburban sanctuary.
The first theater was constructed during the reign of Tiberius towards the middle of the 1st century but it was significantly modified several decades later. At the beginning of the second half of the 2nd century, it was carefully taken down, most of the material being used in the construction of a new, larger monument on the same site.
