Dowden Manufacturing was located in Prairie City, IA. Its principal claim to fame was its patented Potato Harvester aka the Potato Digger. Original patents were applied for in 1873.
The diggers were originally designed to be pulled behind a team. Later versions were modified so they could be pulled by a tractor.
The digger is just one of about 100 pieces of vintage tractors, pieces of equipment and farm vehicles on display at Pete's Canada Center Heritage Museum located on the Trans Canada Highway just east of Winnipeg near the village of Tache, MB.
