Uluwatu Temple stands in a spectacular setting at the edge of a steep cliff and overlooks the waves of the Indian Ocean. Ulu means the ‘top’ or the ‘tip’ and watu is ‘stone’ or ‘rock’ in Balinese. A clifftop path fortified by concrete walls gives stunning views of the sheer cliffs falling 70 metres into the ocean below. You can observe the immensity of the vast ocean from here, and also enjoy the stunning sunset views across the horizon.
