La paroisse l'Enfant-Jésus-de Pointe-aux-Trembles fut fondée vers 1670.
En 1678, la paroisse a fait construire une première église, une modeste chapelle construite en bois. Le premier curé, M. François Séguenot, agit durant plusieurs années comme unique desservant de tout l’est de l’île, tenant un registre commun pour toutes les côtes environnantes. À ce moment, il s'agissait de la plus vielle église paroissiale de l’île de Montréal.
En 1705, on décida de remplacer la chapelle en bois par une église en pierres des champs. On ne fit d’abord que la nef, l’église étant vraisemblablement terminée en 1709. L'église a été érigée entre le couvent et le fleuve Sain-Laurent.
En 1937, l'église fut victime d'une incendie. En 1939, elle sera reconstruite face à la rue Notre-Dame, selon les plans des architectes Donat-Arthur Gascon et Louis Parant.
L'église est bâtie dans le style romane.

This dated building (a Roman Catholic church) is located on Saint-Jean-Baptiste Boulevard, in the borough of Rivière-des-Prairies — Pointe-aux-Trembles in Montreal, Quebec.
The Infant Jesus Parish of Pointe-aux-Trembles was founded around 1670.
In 1678, the parish had a first church built, a modest chapel built in wood. The first parish priest, Mr. François Séguenot, acted for several years as the sole minister serving the entire eastern part of the island, keeping a common register for all the surrounding coasts. At the time, it was the oldest parish church on the island of Montreal.
In 1705, it was decided to replace the wooden chapel with a field stone church. Only the nave was done first, the church being probably completed in 1709. The church was erected between the convent and the St. Lawrence River.
In 1937, the church was the victim of a fire. In 1939, it will be rebuilt facing rue Notre-Dame, according to the plans of the architects Donat-Arthur Gascon and Louis Parant.
The church is built in the Romanesque style.
