L’ONF veut procéder à une coupe d’éclaircissement imminente et les associations ont crié au massacre d’un site plus que centenaire.
Il avait réuni autour de la table les associations de défense du site et mémorielles, le président d’Agglopolys, le directeur de cabinet du président du conseil départemental, les services de l’ONF au niveau régional, territorial et local, ainsi que les services de la Drac. Tout ce petit monde a débattu du bien-fondé d’entretenir la forêt et de protéger le site patrimonial unique durant plus de 2 h 30.
« Le préfet de région a donné son accord à l’ONF pour la coupe le 15 avril dernier, la situation administrative est claire. Mais vu l’émoi que cela causait, il me semblait utile de renouer les liens d’un dialogue qui était distendu », a déclaré le préfet. Loin de désavouer les services de l’État, le préfet leur a fait comprendre que la guerre ouverte n’était pas la solution.
