The only industrial building that used to be found on the Oude Dorp is the mill of the Coöperatieve Landbouwvereniging. This association was founded in 1902, making it the first in South Holland. At the time, the cooperative was still an unknown business form; for example, the buyers were first refused entry to the Rotterdam grain exchange. The mill started in a wooden building, but in 1907 the characteristic stone building on Kerklaan was built. It was favorable to the Ringvaart for the supply by ship and the animal feed for the farmers in the area was further processed and stored here.
Due to the decrease in the number of farmers in the area, the Maalderij was eventually closed in the mid-1990s. The grain elevator that used to be placed over the road had already been demolished several years earlier. In order to protect this industrial heritage, it was ultimately decided to rebuild the mill into an apartment complex while retaining the original facade that is so characteristic of the old village. The unloading quay has also been preserved in its old form.
