Deze met hout omklede Friese klokkenstoel is 20 meter hoog en dateert uit 1519. De toren is in 1609 verhoogd in verband met plaatsing van het uurwerk. De binnenkant is gemaakt van afgekeurde scheepsmasten. Om de buitenkant is in 1877 een witgeschilderde, houten betimmering gemaakt waardoor niet opvalt dat het klokhuis scheef staat. Het klokhuis deed ook dienst om brandslangen te drogen.
In het klokhuis hangen twee klokken. Het uurwerk is afkomstig van de Zuidertoren en dateert uit 1524. Het werd in 1603 in het klokhuis geplaatst dat in 1609 werd verhoogd en van wijzerplaten voorzien.
In 1754 werd het uurwerk omgebouwd tot een slingeruurwerk met ankergang. Tot 1754 was er een waag of foliot boven het uurwerk waardoor dit niet zuiver genoeg op tijd liep. In de zeventiger jaren probeerde de koster van de Westerkerk het uurwerk weer op gang te krijgen. Uiteindelijk werd het tussen 1990 en 1993 grondig gerestaureerd door de stichting tot behoud van het torenuurwerk en daarbij via een radiosignaal aangesloten op de atoomklok in Frankfurt zodat het altijd de juiste tijd aangeeft. Van dit type staan er in Nederland nog drie waaronder één in Sneek.

White-painted wooden paneling was made around the outside in 1877, so that it is not noticeable that the core is crooked. The core also served to dry fire hoses.
There are two bells in the core. The clockwork comes from the Zuidertoren and dates from 1524. It was placed in 1603 in the clock house, which was raised in 1609 and fitted with dials.
In 1754 the timepiece was converted into a pendulum clock with anchor escapement. Until 1754 there was a weighing or foliot above the timepiece, which meant that it was not accurate enough on time. In the seventies the sexton of the Westerkerk tried to get the clock working again. Ultimately, it was thoroughly restored between 1990 and 1993 by the foundation for the preservation of the tower clock and connected via a radio signal to the atomic clock in Frankfurt so that it always indicates the correct time. There are three of this type in the Netherlands, including one in Sneek.
